Support our work

The centre runs on donated time. The things it cannot get donated — compute, publication fees, travel — are where support makes the most difference.

What is needed

Where support goes

We would rather name specific costs than ask in the abstract.

Need 01

Compute

Single-cell and imaging work outgrows a laptop quickly. Cloud credits or access to an HPC allocation removes the hardest practical limit on what students can attempt.

Need 02

Open-access fees

An article processing charge can exceed a Bangladeshi student's annual budget. Covering one APC is the difference between a finished study being read and being shelved.

Need 03

Conference travel

Presenting abroad changes a young researcher's trajectory. Travel and registration support is the most direct investment in an individual career we can name.

Need 04

Software licences

Most of our stack is open source by choice, but a few domain tools are not, and academic licences still cost money.

Need 05

Your time

The most valuable contribution remains supervision. A few hours a week from an experienced researcher supports a team of students.

Volunteer as a mentor →
Need 06

Data access

Introductions to cohorts, registries and imaging archives willing to work with an external analysis partner.

Making a financial contribution

To be completed.

Until a formal donation route is in place, the most useful contributions are the in-kind ones listed above. Write to us and we will tell you honestly what would help most this quarter.

For institutions

If your organisation supports capacity building in South Asia, we can provide a short written proposal covering scope, budget and reporting. We are also glad to be named as a partner on a grant where the computational work is genuinely ours.

Transparency

Any support we receive will be listed publicly on the About page, with the amount and the purpose. A volunteer centre that takes money quietly stops being a volunteer centre.
