Geospatial Health

Where illness falls, and why there. Bangladesh is one of the most climate-exposed and densely settled countries in the world, which makes place an unusually strong predictor of health here.

Spatial epidemiology & disease mapping

Cluster detection and disease mapping using GIS, applied to vector-borne transmission — dengue in particular — where the spatial signal arrives well before the case counts do.

Earth observation & climate health

Satellite remote sensing, including NASA earth observation data, used to track temperature anomaly, precipitation, land cover change and particulate pollution as environmental determinants of health.

Healthcare accessibility

Spatial network analysis of physical access to tertiary care, emergency services and primary clinics across rural and urban Bangladesh — travel time rather than straight-line distance, since the two diverge sharply during flooding.

Environmental exposure

Mapping groundwater contamination and industrial pollutants against chronic disease prevalence, a question with a long and specific history in this country.
